Happy Retirement to
Mary Crowley
The Board of Management and all the staff wish Mary Crowley many years of healthy and happy retirement. Mary spent twenty years teaching with us here in Holy Family SNS. The many pupils, taught diligently and respectfully, bear testimony to her conscientious dedication in the classroom.
Not alone did she teach her cohort of pupils meticulously, whether in mainstream classes or laterally in English as an Additional Language support [EAL], but she trained recorder recital groups for the Swords Young Musician Awards and Córfhéile for many years. She organised these pupils to provide a musical accompaniment for the Confirmation ceremonies and other occasions.
She has a love of learning and the arts in particular. This extended into her post as co-ordination of the arts in school. The art work around the school, the annual Easter Bonnet Parade and her contributions to the church displays at Confirmation times are also part of her legacy.
RUGBY
Six Nations and Triple Crown Trophies
In the month of September we were fortunate, through the efforts of Jamie Gormley, Youth devdelopment Officer - Leinster Branch IRFU - and Mr. O' Keeffe, to have had the Six Nations and the Triple Crown Trophies in our school. The pupils were excited and delighted to see and handle these sought-after trophies.
Leinster Heineken Cup Players
In October Rob Kearney and Jonathan Sexton visited the school, spoke to the pupils and engaged in question and answer sessions in some classroooms. The pupils very much enjoyed the visit by these two excellent players and ambassadors for their sport. Thanks to Mr O'Keeffe for organising the event.
Best wishes to
Ms. Ciara Naughton
The Board of Management, staff and pupils wish Ms. Naughton all the best in her new teaching position in the west. Ms. Naughton spent four years teaching in Holy Family S.N.S. and in her time contributed hugely to the academic and social development of all the pupils in her care. She supported the development of Gaelic football among the pupils, training and managing teams for the school. Her involvement in Scór and feiseanna throughout her own school days provided her with many skills e.g. Irish dancing which she generously shared with all the staff and pupils in Holy Family. She was always kind, courteous and diligent in her dealings with the school community. The pupils she taught benefitted hugely from her many talents. She is already missed dearly by everybody in school. Our loss is her native Roscommon's gain!
