Credit Union Quiz 2012

School Events

Congratulations to the 5 teams who represented the Holy Family SNS at the Swords & District Credit Union quiz on Sunday, January 29.
The Swords heats were held at the Fingallians GAA club and well done to all the parents and supporters who showed up on a miserable, wet afternoon.

Holy Family Seniors were going for a Three-in-a-row this year, but with 9 schools having sent 31 teams to compete it was a tough challenge…

All the Holy Family budding “Masterminds”had been doing lots of lunch-time practices over recent weeks with Mr. Lynch… and they could probably even tell you what “Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda” is …!!! Or what do you call a group of crows…!!! (Answers below…!)

Even Sam Maguire came along to see the action on Sunday and all the teams got photographed with the Cup…

By the end of the questions Holy Family had picked up 3 of the six Team Prizes on offer….

  • The Senior A team (Roisin & Eleanor Dunne, Chloe McEvoy-Harris and Kieran Murnane) came 2 in the U-13s, scoring 49 points out of 60 – just behind St Colmcille’s Boys on 52

  • The Senior C team (Fintan Curran, Sean Cooney, Sophie Sheridan-Burns and Daniel Grace) came 3 in the U-13s. They also had to win an nerve wracking tie-break against the Old Borough to get that place after both teams finished on 48

  • The Junior A team (Cara Doyle, Matthew O’Toole, Ronan Shivnen and Robert White) came 3 in the U-11s behind last year’s Champions St Cronan’s and Swords Educate Together.

Our other competing teams who scored well, though without getting into the Top 3 positions were…
Senior B – Leah Russell, Conor O’Neill, Emily Sheehy and Olivia Coady
Junior B – Mark Graham, Liam O’Keefe, David Morgan and David Murnane

Many of this year’s teams will be still in the Holy Family next year so hopefully they will be back in action next year.

Finally many thanks to Darren O’Reilly of Swords Credit Union, who visits the school to promote Savings and helps to liaise with the school in entering teams each year.

Congratulations to all, and don’t forget to check out our team photos.
